What a reimbursement rate does not tell you
An allowed amount is revenue to a practice before staff, premises, equipment and supplies are paid for — not income to the clinician. The same code pays differently in an office and in a hospital for exactly that reason, and each code page shows both. For what clinicians actually earn, the Department of Labor publishes wages; for what industry pays them, CMS publishes Open Payments. Both are on this site.
